Aluminum Sheet Metal
Aluminum sheet metal is a material used for all kinds of things these days, partly because it is cheap and light, but also because it doesn’t rust and you can easily bend it to the desired shape. Aluminum sheet metal is actually the material used to create the shell of planes because of the very same reasons.
You might actually use aluminum sheet metal in your house, as siding. It is not a very common option, but it is still a pretty good option if you can find this type of material in a special brushed finish. You can buy it as cheap as plastic siding, but you can be sure that it will be far more durable and will also look better. If you don’t like the finish, you can always buy normal aluminum sheet metal that you can paint to a desired color.
I have used this type of material for a little project I have undertaken with a friend of mine. Besides being very cheap, it also provides with ease of use because you don’t need special tools to cut it and bent it in the shape that you need. You can use normal scissors for the thinner sheets and metal saw for the other ones. You can bend the material with your hands, so there’s no problem there either. As I mentioned earlier, it is very good in the rain or in high humidity areas because it does not rust. I left the sheeting as they came, brushed, and they look very good on our little box cart. We have finished the vehicle over 4 years ago, and the aluminum sheet metal is still in perfect condition.
I recommend this type of material for any kind of use, especially if you are going to use that item outside or it will probably get wet during use.
